A Trip To Jhushan

For the long weekend, Eva and I decided to ride out south on Route 3 to visit a good friend just outside Jhushan. The road there couldn’t have been simpler: Once we turned onto Lin Sen Road in Taichung we pretty much went straight there through Dali, Wufeng, Wangfeng, Caotun, Nantou City, Mingjian and then Jhushan. On the way there, two odd things happened.

Tanks on the street in Guangdong?

Watching FTV this morning, I thought I saw some news about tanks on the streets of Guangdong. I might be wrong about this. Anyone else seen similar news stories?

UPDATE: This Liberty Times article has more information. I can’t see a mention of tanks per se but it does talk about a force of 2000 security personnel, armoured cars and SWAT mobilised to tackle an angry crowd of over 1000 who responded to an alleged driving accident involving a husband and pregnant wife street-stall sellers and members from the local village security committee, in which it was thought the woman had lost her baby. Following the incident, the Great Firewall of ~~Fascist Oppression~~ China has now allegedly blocked mention of the location and events.
